Help
If you, or someone you know, has been bereaved by gambling-related suicide, please visit our family support page.
However, if you need to speak to someone urgently about a gambling-related issue for yourself, a family member, or a friend, then one of the external organisations and services on this page may be able to help.
In an emergency
If you are in mental health distress we recommend that you call the Samaritans on 116 123. If you are in a mental health crisis or feeling suicidal we recommend you call 111 or your GP, and in an emergency call 999.
For gamblers
Blocking tools
Treatment for gambling disorder is essential, but the first step to stopping gambling often involves using blocking tools, such as Gamban and GAMSTOP. Once set up and registered, these tools will automatically self-exclude you from all UK-licenced online bookmakers. You may also find TalkBanStop helpful, which is a programme that combines peer support with blocking tools.
Many banks also give you the option to block all gambling transactions, including Lloyds, Halifax, HSBC, Starling and Monzo.
Self-excluding from land-based venues
If you are looking to self-exclude from multiple land-based gambling venues, we recommend registering with MOSES (multi-operator self-exclusion scheme).
